How SCPCN Simplified Clinic Data Collection with a Secure Power Pages Portal
Who They Are
South Calgary Primary Care Network (SCPCN) supports 70 + clinics and over 300 healthcare professionals across South Calgary. With a focus on providing top patient care, SCPCN collects regular reporting data from its member clinics to support funding, performance measurement, and operational decisions.
What They Needed
SCPCN’s original reporting portal was built in 2016 as a custom tool for clinic data uploads. Over time, the legacy platform became increasingly difficult to support. It posed growing security risks and no longer met the organization’s evolving needs. SCPCN needed a modern, secure solution that would reduce friction for busy clinic staff and give internal teams greater flexibility and control.
The Roadblock
The original platform had been custom-developed, but over time, that became increasingly challenging for the team to support. Panel managers and support staff were still submitting critical data each month, but the system’s aging infrastructure made it harder to log in, troubleshoot, or adapt to changing requirements. The new system had to solve those problems without sacrificing functionality or overcomplicating the user experience.
The Game Plan
SCPCN turned to Convverge to explore a better path forward. After reviewing the needs, Convverge recommended Microsoft Power Pages instead of SharePoint, which SCPCN had originally considered. Power Pages offered external access, higher security, and a more intuitive user experience for clinic staff.
Convverge used Figma to develop detailed platform prototypes and align stakeholders early in the process. Once approved, the team moved quickly into development, integrating the new portal with SCPCN’s existing member portal for seamless single sign-on (SSO). This integration made it easy for physicians and clinic staff to access multiple services in one place without having to juggle separate logins.oving smoothly. The project stayed on track and on budget, with strong collaboration every step of the way.
Tools We Used
- Microsoft Power Pages
- Figma (prototyping and design)
What Changed
The new portal—officially named the Medical Home Hub—is now live and actively used across SCPCN’s network. Panel managers and support staff can securely upload physician data each month, while the system enforces strict access controls and Canadian data residency. The new admin console makes it easy for SCPCN’s internal team to adapt to changing reporting requirements without the need for backend development.
How It Measures Up
- Notable reduction in IT support tickets
- Improved clinic experience and ease of use
- Flexible configuration tools for internal updates
- Secure, privacy-first design with limited data retention
- Seamless SSO integration with existing physician portal
The Takeaway
For SCPCN, the Medical Home Hub serves as a purpose-built system that empowers clinicians to deliver better care, strengthens internal control, and meets modern security and compliance standards.
“We’ve simplified the process, shaved time off, and freed clinics up to focus more on patient care. It’s faster, better, and easier to use—and we didn’t sacrifice any functionality.” — Bryce Liesemer, Manager, IT Operations & Business Continuity
